Bird & Bat Boxes

As part of an Ecology Management Plan on the Phase 2 site Persimmon were supposed to install some properties with Bird and Bat boxes. Properties and box types are shown on the image above. Some of them should have been integrated into the fabric of the building upon construction. As Persimmon are promoting this initiative as part of the Elm Farm development, we wanted to make sure they stood by their responsibilities to install them on Phase 2.

After a couple of months of waiting Persimmon are now starting to arrange this retrospectively with the home owners. Sadly, a few residents are now not willing for this work to be done. There are others who have not had them allocated as part of the build that would like them. But at the moment we are not certain if Persimmon will allow other residents to accept the boxes that will not be installed.

The Ecology Management Plan also detailed other measures including the installation of Hibernaculum (Habitiat Piles). Currently we do not know if or where these have been incorporated. We will be looking into it to ensure Persimmon have done what is advised in the ecology plan for the site.
