Jeckyll Road Pumping Station
There have been problems recently with the pumping station on Jeckyll Road which have resulted in the pumps stopping and backup tanks filling. This has now happened on a few occasions to the point that the sewerage facilities have been affected on residents’ properties. Then numerous tanker loads being removed until the pumps are working again.
We have communicated with Persimmon regarding this and they have stated. “The sewage system and the pumping station is designed in accordance with the Anglian water recommendations for future adoption.” Persimmon’s representative has also stated that the problems have been caused by inappropriate material being put into the system which are getting clogged in the pumps and stopping them. By inappropriate materials they mean things like wipes, nappies, and cotton buds. All of which should go into a bin and not down the toilet. They have stated “it is not a defect of the design and/or equipment”.
Anglia Water will ultimately be responsible for this and we have been in contact with them regarding the problem. As it stands, we have received some contradictory information regarding the specification that the facilities have been built to. Additionally, Anglia Water have advised that because everything has not been completed, they have not fully inspected what has been installed. We intend to ensure that Anglia Water are happy with the work that has been done and that everything is as it should be before Persimmon fully hand over and Anglia Water adopt it.
