Lagoons Path & Flooding
Concerns have been raised with Persimmon over the lagoon area running alongside Coldham Grove and Barnes Close.
Firstly, it is felt that the finished surface of the pathway is not suitable or fit for purpose. To some it would pose a health and safety risk. Loose gravel has been used to top off the pathway and not the installation of the compacted surface originally advised. The loose gravel moves significantly under foot when walked on. It would be difficult to use pushchairs on it, and it would be inaccessible and potentially dangerous to anyone with mobility restrictions or using mobility aids. Therefore, it does not currently provide an inclusive accessible area for all residents.
In addition, with the recent heavy rains, standing water has regularly been seen covering areas of the path due to recesses in the groundwork. The concern is that if it is left in the current state this will degrade the pathway as well as reduce the ability to use the path in wet weather.
Persimmon had signed off this area as complete. However, both problems have been raised with the Senior Contracts Manager. We understand a visit has taken place to look at these issues but we are currently awaiting to hear about or see any rectification work.
